U.S. Route 1 (also called U.S. Highway 1, and abbreviated US 1) is a United States highway which parallels the east coast of the United States. It runs 2,390 miles (3,846 km) from Key West, Florida in the south, to Fort Kent, Maine at the Canadian border in the north. US 1 generally parallels Interstate 95, though it is significantly farther inland (west) between Jacksonville, Florida and Petersburg, Virginia. It connects the major cities of the east coast, including: Miami, Florida; Jacksonville, Florida; Columbia, South Carolina; Raleigh, North Carolina; Richmond, Virginia; Washington, DC; Baltimore, Maryland; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; New York, New York; New Haven, Connecticut; Providence, Rhode Island; Boston, Massachusetts and Portland, Maine.

Le tub...for remarkable burgers...

"Hands down, this is one of the coolest, most unpretentious, quintessential pre-swanky South Florida restaurants, if not one of the coolest restaurants, period. Established in 1959 as a Sunoco gas station, Le Tub was eventually closed by the energy crisis of the early '70s. In 1974, the place was purchased by a man who dedicated an entire year to personally transforming the place into this waterfront restaurant, made out of flotsam, jetsam, and ocean-bone treasures gathered over 4 years of jogging on Hollywood Beach. But the waterfront location and unique building aren't the only things to marvel at. As you walk in, take note of the hand-painted bathtubs and toilet bowls (it's not at all gross; they're used as planters) lining the walkway. Inside is a divey bar complete with pool table and jukebox; outside seating on the deck is the real gem. Le Tub is famous for its burgers, chili, and seafood, but more appealing than the food is the peaceful, easy feeling exuded by the place."

One of the most fascinating characteristics about Miami is its constant expansion. Miami's reach extends far beyond city streets and beaches and far into suburbs and parks. As the population continues to expand, Miami continues to incorporate more and more suburban and rural areas.

Bank Of America

The Bank of America Building in the Financial District in Downtown Miami can be spotted from almost any view overlooking Downtown. This famous building and its unique architecture compliment the up and coming Downtown area, which is currently being expanded and built up.
The Metro Hopper passes through right by this building and weaves through much of downtown.

Latin flavor

Florida, especially Miami, is famous for its Spanish architectural influence. Spanish architecture has its roots in the Moorish civilization, but has a unique touch. Since Miami is so close with its Latin American neighbors, the influence, especially tiled roofs, is strong. Tiled roofs of all colors and designs are part of Miami's Latin flavor

Florida Royalty.

As the universal symbol of tropical climate, the palm tree is no stranger to Miami. In this photo, the Florida Royal Palm, can grow up to about eighty feet tall. This tree is known for its tolerance of salt drift and strength to resist strong hurricane winds and rain. Palm trees are able to bend and sway elastically with the direction of the wind.

In almost any urban setting, you can find a pair of shoes dangling from an electric line. It is like a game among kids; they steal a pair of shoes from someone, tie the shoe laces together, and throw it into a tree or line.
